Frequently Asked Questions

Who is ‘Glass of French’?

Glass of French is run by me, Jenny Bowden.I travel to France relatively regularly, but I find that I am not as good at French as I should be. Speaking French between visits, should help, I thought, so decided to start a French conversation group in my area of Surrey.

What level of French do the other participants have?

Everyone who wants to practise their French is welcome. The level varies depending on who turns up. There are people who have lived in France, are French and those who have passed an ‘O’ Level, GCSE, ‘A’ Level or a degree, often, a good number of years ago.

Is there a “teacher”?

No, there is no format – the evening runs whichever way the conversation goes, books, films, work, sport, travel…friendly and informal.

I try to write a short blog after the evening to cover any great phrases, comments or learning resources we might have shared.

How much does it cost?

It’s free (except for whatever you order from the bar)

Can one just turn up?

Yes, ask the bar staff or just listen out for us!
